This large hotel occupies an island approximately 15 minutes by the hotel launch from St. Mark's Square. The hotel has the air of a palace with wide, long corridors and spacious common rooms with high ceilings and an elegant main staircase. There is a delightful outdoor swimming pool and sun lounger area open June to September. Surprisingly, there is no... more

We stayed at the San Clemente for a long weekend in late May, whilst attending a wedding. The location of the hotel is wonderful – in the middle of the lagoon, on a private landscaped island with gorgeous gardens. It is a 15 minute boat ride to St Marks, and the complimentary shuttle departs three times an hour to and... more

It is extremely rare for me to be speechless upon arrival at a hotel, but I was when we pulled up at the jetty of the San Clemente Palace. My boyfriend had booked a surprise trip away so I had no idea where we were going - and I wasn't disappointed! We got a private boat transfer from Marco Polo... more

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at this hotel, and it really is a "palace" in every sense. We were upgraded to the suite to die for, given a free meal at the stunning restaurant, and were absolutely enchanted by the whole Venice experience. Whilst we were staying, there was a wedding held in the chapel within the hotel grounds -... more

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.I stayed here for my birthday with my boyfriend. It was fabulous. A hotel boat ride takes you to this incredible hotel ( previously a monastary I believe). Gardens are beautiful and breath taking entrance hall ! Beautiful antiques everwhere. Room was huge, lovely toiletries, and there were chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle... more

Have just got from an amazing trip to the San Clemente Palace. The location, about 20 min boat ride from/to San Marco was a great way to start and end the day, and then again for the evening. The sunsets going back to the hotel as you leave Venice were great. The Staff were very helpful and nothing was to... more

This is without doubt the best hotel we have ever satyed in. It was a superb start to our honeymoon and we liked it so much we are planning a long weekend there in 2008. Would recommend it to anyone. Whilst quite pricey (everything is in Venice) it is well worth it. The restaurants in the hotel are also fantastic.... more

What more can I say really. It is stunningly beautiful and the service was excellent. It is a very impressive and large building with lovely grounds. I stayed here as a romantic treat in October with my now husband to be as he proposed by the basilica at midnight. I was slightly worried with it being such a 'posh' hotel... more

This is a truly sumptious hotel with a wonderful feeling of light and space. It was absolulely wonderful to escape the hustle and bustle of St Mark's Square with all its tourists and find your own relaxing little haven. All the other hotels around St Marks Square had tourists milling in and out all of the time not so the... more

We stayed here at the begining of November to celebrateour 25 th wedding anniversary and were delighted with our choice. We were blessed with 4 sunny days which added to the overall ambience of the hotel and the lovely grounds which were pleasent to stroll round. From our arrival at reception until departure we found the staff to be pleasent... more
