My wife and myself spent our honeymoon at the Shangri La during December 2008. The check-in was fast and efficient. We stayed at an Horizon Opera House room, which was just fabulous, both for its amenities and views! The staff was rather helpful and the breakfast rich and tasty. Another great plus of this hotel is its location. We managed... more

We stayed at the Shangri La for six nights. We were upgraded to a Grand Harbour View room and couldn't have been more delighted. The view was fantastic. Our daughter (who we were visiting in Sydney) had never seen such a good view and she had been in the City for seven months. We had a lovely time and could'nt... more

Thank you Catamaran Captains for the lovely comments and terrific endorsement of the Shangri-La team. In particular your kind words about our Concierge were most appreciated. Delighted also that we were able to upgrade you to our Grand Harbour View accommodation category and moreover thank you for acknowledging the gesture. Oh and yes we agree with you that the view...

My partner and I stayed at the Shangri-La in Sydney for a week at the end of April. Our primary gripes are with the cost of breakfast room service and the availibity of the concierge. Firstly, the concierge. We'd hired a car and parked it at the hotel. 90% of the time we called the concierge, the number would be... more

Our Shangri-La mission is to delight customers on each and every occasion. To achieve this we must meet the expectations of our customers and also anticipate as best we can their needs. On this occasion we have fallen short of the guests expectations and do certainly regret the inconvenience our performance has caused. Our Chief Concierge manages one of the...

We stayed at the Shangri La for three nights while on our honeymoon travels en route from Thailand to Queensland. The hotel is well positioned and is a short stroll to the harbour. It is at the top of the hill so it is not ideal for anyone who would find an uphill, steep walk hard. The hotel is pretty... more

Thank you to the author for the kind words complimenting the hotels facilities and of course our team. The author references the Horizon Club Floors on levels 30-35 which offer some of the best views of Sydney and our glorious harbour. Club floor guests may also avail themselves of the exclusive lounge on level 30, complimentary breakfast and evening canapés...

We read a few of the reviews on Tripadvisor and thought the Shangri-la hotel sounded lovely. On arrival the staff were very helpful our bags were collected immediately. We were shown to our rooms and as promised the rooms are a very nice size. All the soft furnishings are new and the views from the opera house view rooms are... more

Thank you so much to the author for the fabulous endorsement of the hotel and or team. We were actually thrilled to read the comment about the television and the speed in which our team rectified the problems. Occasionally things just do not go to plan and in our industry it’s all about recovering from the problems that arise as...

On our recent holiday to Australia we stayed at the Shangri La twice once for three nights at the start and then for one night before flying home. As other reviewers have said first experiences are important and our first experience of the Shangri La could not have been better. Arriving at 7am in a downpour after a long flight... more

The Shangri-la has an impressive address and impressive view from almost every direction. The lobby is nice and Hart's Pub is kinda cool, the staff are professional and friendly , but other than that it is really just a downtown travellers hotel. Rooms were very average size, bordering on small with limited amenities available. - In Room Coffee, very important... more

Thank you to the author for their kind words about the hotel and our people. As a footnote the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney offers some of largest guest rooms amongst the luxury properties in the city starting at 40sqm (132 sq ft) in the lead accommodation categories. The author’s suggestion of coffee machines in the rooms to accommodate North American preferences...

Don't get me wrong this is a good hotel but it is overpriced and not as good as most five star hotels I've stayed in. Yes, it does have some fantastic views but our room seemed to be populated by quite old looking and not well maintained furniture and fittings. Room service and restaurants were expensive even for a hotel... more

Thank you to the author for referencing the efforts of our people and the service they provide. While it can be a challenge to meet the expectations of every guest we do value the opinions of all. Without such honest and genuine comments it is difficult to improve our services and product offerings. Decor is always a subjective topic with...

We got an Opera View Room on the 24th floor. The view was terrific, although if you looked to your right you would be practically into the neighboring hotels’ rooms. So I wouldn’t advise you to stay in City view rooms, because it might be quite suffocating. The room was very spacious, but rather old looking and equipped with the... more

Thank you to the author for taking the time to write this review. Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney one of a very small collection of luxury hotel properties that offers views of the harbour from every guest room. We are pleased that the author enjoyed the view.
