My partner and I stayed five nights at Hotel 59 in the first week of May and really enjoyed our stay. George is a great guy and very helpful. He booked our Oztrek tour to the Blue Mountains for us and arranged our pickup by the airport shuttle service. He also helped us with getting our luggage up the front... more

May 14-16 2008 was my second stay at hotel 59. (The first being April 2007) It's a clean well appointed hotel not far from the center of Sydney (Walkable to the Opera House, Australian Museum, Darling Harbour, Hyde Park, etc, etc.) As for those that are wary of the area. I've never had any problem. It's on a main street,... more

We found this hotel very clean and the location well situated for walking to all the major attractions in Sydney (Opera House, bridge, the Rocks, botanic gardens). Although Kings Cross may not have the best reputation, we felt quite safe and our room was very quiet. The breakfasts are good and the owner, George, goes out of his way to... more

Really enjoyed my 4 day stay here. Very handy location-about a 5 minute walk away from the Tube. The owner was really friendly and cooks a lovely breakfast!! You can choose what you want in their cafe underneath the hotel. Would def recommend to friends and would stay there again next time I visit Sydney. Felt safe here as a... more

We were pleasantly surpised to find such a comfortable hotel in the heart of Sydney at very reasonable rates. The room was basic but very clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We especially loved the shower!!! There was a full choice of breakfasts in the little cafe downstairs. George was extremely helpful with advice on... more

For the price, $100 AUD, this hotel was terrific. It was an interesting location and just 2 blocks from the subway station. George makes a nice breakfast and there are 2 laundromats nearby, once next door and one across the street. We also found it far enough away from the partiers to be quiet. Thumbs up! more

Stayed here on our last 3 nights in Australia before moving on to NZ. Great value B&B. Rooms are small and reminded us of London type B&Bs with random furniture. George "the owner" is very "laconic" but has a dry sense of humour once he opens up! The plus points for this place are cost, location and I would rate... more

If you want an inexpensive place to stay, that's comfortable, with a good breakfast and close to the city, Hotel 59 ticks all the boxes. On top of that, however, you also get the benefit of the ever helpful owner, George. As others have said, Hotel 59 is close to, but not actually in, the lively part of Kings Cross.... more

Hotel 59 was a complete surprise...(stayed mar 28 to apr 03 2008) Perfect quiet location, close to bus stop, take-away food places and nightlife. Its the quiet residential end of Bayswater Rd in Kings Cross. Only a 10 min walk to Darlinghurst Rd/Kings Cross clubs, 15 mins to Oxford St precinct and 30min pleasant walk to Opera House & CBD.... more

This small, family owned hotel was a great place to stay on our visit to Sydney. Our room was quite small but it was very clean and served the purpose for a good night's sleep. The location is very convenient to public transport and lots of restaurants and bars. The Kings Cross area is quite the night life hotspot, fortunately... more
