We stayed one night in June (before Taste of Chicago) as a relaxing retreat to the city. Being from the suburbs of Chicago, and having extensive travel experience, I felt the Hilton was a safe bet and reasonably priced for our one night stay. I was impressed by the location, but disappointed by the hotel itself. This particular location seems... more
A so-called grand hotel, that fails to live up to its moniker. As a HHonors member, I tend to stay in Hilton properties...but NEVER this property again. Shameless, for what they charge. Furthermore, I was upgraded to the Executive floor....I've stayed at Hampton Inns that were better...much better. Sounds petty...but no hair dryer???? more
There must be someone left in the world who finds an overkill of faux renaissance/baroque touches in a North American hotel room charming. Not me or anyone I know, or maybe this place is just trying to compete with the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA. It's just gross: Everything from the rooms to the common areas is a... more
I reserved a 2 bedroom suite in December for a June weekend. The website states it has one room with 2 doubles, and one room with a king, also includes a parlor. When I checked in, the clerk told me we had 1904 and 1905. When you get to the room, 1904/5 are listed on a plaque together, and have... more
Had a week long stay at the Hilton on south Michigan while attending a meeting. The hotel has some elegance in the lobby, meeting rooms and lounges - the hotel rooms could definitely use updating. I would definitely say that for the price of a room here - the rooms should be top notch. My car was misplaced during valet... more
Truly this must be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Ever. This is my stay: drive to the valet parking, greeted with a smile and the bell boy comes along: "You do not need help with your bags, right?" Not the nicest of things to say, I believe. The lobby staff (mainly bell boys) are just standing there,... more
The first impression is the beautiful lobby and cafe. The work-out center and pool were the best in any hotel I've seen. Service was excellent from all staff. We booked through Priceline - what a pleasant surprise! It's across the street from Grant Park & the Art Institute. more
I liked this hotel overall. We booked through Priceline and saved a lot of money. It is not quite in as good of a location as North Michigan Avenue, but is still in a good location (close to Millenium Park), and for the money you save, is well worth it. It is an older hotel, but the lobby is immaculate.... more
I stayed at the Hilton Chicago the last weekend of April, on a Priceline bid ($85/night), and was happy with my stay overall. Check-in was a breeze; I waited only a minute. (There are also self-check-in kiosks to use during busier times.) Despite my low pre-paid rate, my request for a spacious, quiet room on a higher floor was readily... more
