Well located hotel (on the Magnificent Mile). Nice building -- at least the old part, which was built in 1929 as the luxury 'Medinah Athletic Club'. The hotel also has a 'new' wing (built in the early 1960s), which is much less of an architectural highlight. My room was in the new wing -- there seems to be a premium... more

In celebration of my granddaughter's 6th birthday, we enjoyed a special weekend in Chicago. Having never stayed at the InterContinental, we were initially concerned that this hotel would offer what we were hoping for to enrich our time together and our celebration. There were certainly no disappointments. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are clean, hotel personnel are professional and willing... more

This is a hotel that, for the most part, provides the standard 4-star experience. Rooms, in the more modern tower where I stayed, are presentable and dependable, but unremarkable in most respects. There's little sense of luxury about the place, although that might not be the case for rooms in the historic tower. Some might find them a little on... more

If you are looking for a hotel that is truly in the best location, the Intercontinental is it--right on the Magnificent Mile, next to the Chicago River, across from the Wrigley Building. My daughter and I stayed here for a getaway, and quickly were able to get to Milennium Park, shopping, Navy Pier, great dining, exploring festivals and strolling through... more

We had a superb suite in the Historic Tower, it was extremely spacious and comfortable. The staff, from the trainee check in clerk onwards, were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was extensive and of good quality and was easily the best we had on this visit to the U.S.. The location at the south end of the Magnificent Mile was... more

The Intercontinental Hotel is centrally located in dwontown Chicago. It was walking distance to Navy Pier, Grant Park, Rush Street, and of course is located right on Michigan Avenue. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were clean. The valet parking was also very convienvent. For our next trip to Chicago we plan on staying at the Intercontinental. more

It is an older but very nice hotel within easy walking distance of the Mag Mile and the Theater District. We were pleasantly surprised by the extra bathroom in our suite, and the excellent house keeping services. The concierge also recommended a charming Italian restaurant nearby called Volare. more

Of the many hotels I have paid a reasonable amount of money to stay in, this is the worst. For this price range they nickle and dime you for everything (workout room, internet, etc.). Other hotels in the area include much more than this hotel that is very much in need of renovation and new management. more

I booked this hotel for an absoulute steal through hotels.com. The hotel is in a great location you can walk to the lakefront, water tower and el stop. The rooms are slightly bigger than average and well appointed. The real dissapointment at the InterContinental is the service. At check in I was told that the fee for incedentals was $100.00... more

Comfortable place to relax with a glass of wine and some truffles. Place features cheese flights ("sensations"), wine flights and truffle flights. There are also wines by the glass and bottle. I would suggest going early evening or late night when not too crowded. Flights come with explanatory cards of what you are eating or drinking. Service was ok. Most... more
