Great hotel recently refurbished in Waikiki Tower. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was very swish. This was a privately owned condo the hotel sells off and rents. I wasn't a huge fan of this place. Late at night, when I checked in, the lobby was horrendously lit with fluorescent lights and bad music was blaring from the nightclub just off reception...it was a pretty disconcerting way to be greeted after travelling for 12 hours. On our third trip to Hawaii, we booked our hotel room directly via condo owner (vrbo). Staying on the 23rd floor, we experienced amazing views with rainbows on the horizon every day! It's a couple blocks inland, but within 15-20 minute walking distance to all the action at Waikiki beach if you're looking for a Hawaii vacation without all the hotel cost, and don't mind a small hike. I travel to Honolulu several times a year on business. I chose this hotel after a pretty unpleasant experience at the Doubletree Alana. The Ala Moana looked about as nice and was significantly less expensive. Also, the location offers very easy accesss to the Ala Moana shopping center, Waikiki, and downtown.
