I just returned from a 2 week stay at Hacienda.
and I have nothing but great things to say about this place.
However, if you are looking for a posh, high class hotel, i wouldn't suggest staying there.
It is a older hotel, but I found it to be gorgeous. the trees, the flowers, the gardens were lovely. it reminded me alot like the little family villa i stayed at in zihuatanejo 2 years ago
It has a very mexican feel to it, which I find alot better then staying in a 5 star 50 story hotel 20 miles from the city center.


All the staff were incredibly friendly, especially the Daytime manager (sorry i cannot remember his name) who helped me get all the supplies to wrap up a painting i bought. shake my hand everytime i seen him and ask how i was doing. just fantastic! even after a minor altercation with some people i was staying with

Marcella - my favorite watiress who went the extra mile to throw a little birthday bash for my boyfriend. - she had a Cake baked, streamers balloons, tequilla and the whole kitchen crew come out to sing him happy birthday! excellent!

the activity crew David & Victor were great, keeping you busy with fun stuff to do around the pool & beach all day long.
my personal fav was the Aqua Size with David every day at noon ;)

The rooms were great, very clean!

The food was pretty decent too, especially mexican night!

This hotel attracts many Mexican travellers, students and partiers. especially at this time of year, which i found to be great, again because it made me feel that i was actually in Mexico, experiencing Mexico.

Will definitly stay at Hacienda when I return to Vallarta!!!

We have just returned from a week at the Haciend Hotel & Spa. The hotel is old and we have never experienced such incredible nightmare before. Check in was a really bad experience, we arrived at the hotel at 1 am so we were tired and sleepy all we wanted was to go to bed, to start with they branded us with a bracelet, even if you are not all inclusive, which just makes you feel unwanted there, aparently all inclusive is the way to go with this hotel if not they will charge you 45.00 a day per person just to eat there, you can't even order a drink without a visit to the front desk to buy a ticket to get a drink or a meal, it doesn't help to leave your credit card information with them to charge for anything, they just wont serve you if you didn' t buy a ticket.
To start we reserved two rooms and the rooms were far away from each other, one was on the third floor and the other was on the first floor, ordered two beds gave us one king size beds,
they ended up setting up a bed for us, the next day they moved us to two rooms on the first floor next to each other but the experience was already ruined.
The dissapointment grew when we saw the road to the beach, if you miss the suttle you would have to walk 3 blocks thru an ugly road, there is a few constructions going on around there, so many workers are just there not working, watching people go by and whistling to girls, it was bad.
Anyway at the beach club also if you are not all inclusive or have a ticket you can't have water or a drink, so by the second day we were prepared with our own drinks, so if you still want to stay there buy your own drinks at the supermarket next door.
We wanted the feel of an Hacienda and we got that, the hotel is beautiful, is old and it needs maintenance in the rooms, but we could not even enjoy the beauty of an old building, the mexican arquitecture the inside patio after everything else.
Mexico is a beautiful place and if you want to enjoy it please stay somewhere else like the Fiesta Americana.

Sorry to say that our trip to Puerto Vallarta and the Hacienda in particular was a huge disappointment. Although the staff at the Hacienda was very nice, if you are looking for a special place to stay--stay away from this hotel. It is an old hotel with very few amenities--here are just a few of what we found: very old bathroom badly needing repair, one electrical outlet in the entire room (including the bathroom), very little security. . .no "key cards" issued--only an old-fashioned key. Speaking of security, we were told upon check-in--not to leave any valuables in our room. Thus, we were horrified to find that their "safe" was merely an old, rusty bank of safe deposit boxes behind the lobby desk! Although the wesite stated that hair dryers were available upon request, they only had 100 hair dryers for 155 rooms! The pool area is very nice, but we never did see the beach. . .due to construction and a horrible area to walk through behind the hotel. The air conditioning control in the room did not work. The noise outside the hotel due to traffic made it hard to sleep. Oh, and by the way, the bed had NO box springs--the mattress was sitting on concrete! Suffice it to say that we stayed only one night finding different accommodations for our remaining vacation.

My wife and I and 2 other couples booked the Hacienda in October (6 months earlier) for a March vacation. Upon arrival we were told the hotel was overbooked and we would be sent to a nicer hotel for 2 nights. After spending 2 hours haggling and moving, the other hotel was not as they said. We returned to talk to the management about the problem and after numerous trips between our contact and the manager (it kind of felt like buying a car!) we were told we could return after 1 night. Although we booked non smoking rooms with king size beds we were given smoking rooms and 2 twins. We were tired of complaining and getting the run around so we stayed with what were given. The funny thing is, we met a guest at the hotel who was from Canada for a convention that he decided to attend at the last minute and booked his room 2 weeks before he arrived. It was at the hotel next door but they were overbooked but the Hacienda had a room for him that was non smoking wit a king sized bed. (Hmmm.) The regular hotel staff was great and we enjoyed our stay but will not go back to the Hacienda after how we were treated. The icing on the cake was that although we had all inclusive (which we have done the prior 2 years at other hotels in PV) when it came to check out time of noon out wrist bands were taken and we were not allowed to have lunch and a going away drink while we waited for our 4 o'clock flight. Oh yeah, one more thing, I used my VISA card one time when I was in PV and that was to rent a car at the Thrifty car rental desk in the hotel lobby. That same day and the next 2 days after someone was using my card to make internet purchases before the bank blocked my card. I called Thrifty to let them know but they never returned my calls...I think we will try a different country for our vacations from now on.
