We stayed at the Krystal through an RCI trade. After reading the other reviews, I was very nervous.
1. Construction. Yes there is construction. The ecomony in PV is BOOMING. It is changing quickly down there, and if we are in a recession, I don't see much indication of it in PV. And Americans and Canadians are the driving forces.
2. Privacy. The room we got assigned to first was right on the road, but the road is not open to cars, only electric golf carts. We asked for a more private room, and the hotel gave us what we asked for.
3. Employees. The Krystal is an older hotel, and many of the employees have worked there for many years. They are happy with their jobs, and it is reflected in how they treat their guests. I would especially like to acknowledge the front desk, bell boys, and maid service.
4. Cleanliness. The rooms were VERY CLEAN. Yes there is some parts of the hotel that are in need of grout, etc. But all of the areas were very clean, just needing some maintenace.
5. Location. The Krystal is a $5-7 cab ride to PV. Also, a very big grocery store is within walking distance. The beach is nice, sandy (which is not always the case in PV)
6. Vendors. Yes they are on the beach. But you could use them to practice your Spanish, or they make great people watching. They are much more annoying in downtown PV (next to La Palapa restuarant area).
7. Food. Definate down side. We ate there for three meals. All three meals were BAD. I would NOT do an all inclusive at this hotel.
8. Food Service Employees. Not prompt, but this is Mexico, so keep that in mind. It helps to slow down. We found that if we treat people with respect, it will get returned (just not as quickly as in the States). This fact got easier to handle as the week went on and WE were less stressed.
9. Massages. My husband and I received the best massages that we have ever had at this Hotel. It is an outside area (but private). We got two 75-minute massages for $70. (that is for BOTH). WOW.
