“Great Time At The Hotetur!”

Hotetur Beach Paradise

Denver, Colorado

We stayed at the Hotetur Beach Paradise June 22-29. We went with 2 other couples all in our mid-twenties.
We flew in to Cancun mid-day on American Airlines from Denver, CO. American Airlines was horrible but we were very excited to get to Cancun. We booked a round-trip transfer from the airport to the hotel through Best Day, Expedia also uses them if you book through the Expedia website. They were very easy to find after walking through all the timeshare people at the airport. I would recommend getting the shuttle as one couple did not and had to use a very expensive taxi both ways.
The Hotetur is about a 10-15 minute ride from the airport. Once arriving we were checked in and all of us were put on the same floor. We were in the middle tower (same as the lobby) on the 3rd floor.
ROOM: Our room had a perfect view of the ocean. The other 2 couples didn’t have the same luck, one had a view of a wall, and one had the view of the lagoon. All of the rooms that we had, had 2 double beds. The sink (which was separate from the toilet/shower area) had 2 water bottles supplied. I do not think that they bring more than the 2 bottles that are already there but there are larger containers in the sports bar area that you can use to refill your bottles. The room is nice, maybe a little dated but not uncomfortable. Our AC worked well enough. Our friends that did not have a view, had a great AC, it was an icebox in the room they had. We had no problems with the shower. We did however have to request an iron for the room. They also did not have an alarm clock in the room, but we brought our own and I was grateful we did. No fridge in our room.
There are 3 towers. We stayed in the middle and I did notice that the other 2 towers have balconies and larger windows. If we did not have such a great view I would have asked to move to one of those towers.

BARS: 3 bars. Lobby bar, was the nicest. They gave you larger glass cups if you were to stay in the lobby with them. If not they gave you little tiny hard plastic cups( 6oz). I liked the bahama mama drink. I also loved the pina coladas. The other drinks, not so much. I did like the XX they had on tap. This is also the area that they had activities at during the night that weren’t on the entertainment stage. Sport Bar, nice little bar open late. Has a few game tables. Pool Bar, my favorite! Right in the pool and Wilbur was a very nice bartender. Spent lots of time here.

FOOD:
El Mirador : The buffet. We had breakfast here many time. They have all the regulars, bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs as well as some specialty dishes. They also had omelets made to order! So good. They had milk, water, orange, and pineapple juice to choose from. One day they even had make your own bloody mary’s set up by the entrance! Yummy. Lunch was good. Dinner had a different theme every night. They also had different meats that they could grill up for you. Ie. Fish, Steak, Chicken. For dessert I really liked the cheesecake!
Italian : Sit down restaurant, no reservations. They had a nice variety of food. You make your own salad. From what I remember you can have a chicken dinner, which everyone loved, pizza, and there are different pastas that you can mix with different sauces. For dessert I got the spumoni, they also offer tiramisu?
The Mediterranean: Sit down restaurant, with reservations. This was very nice. You get a multi-course meal. I got spinach crepes for an appetizer. They also had a shrimp avocado salad. They give you some sorbet to cleanse your mouth in between! Fancy fancy. For the main course I had the shrimp wrapped with mahi mahi. It was fantastic. You can also purchase lobster or steak for and additional amount but we stuck to the menu. They also had some sort of beef dinner and a chicken dinner as well. I heard those were also good. For dessert I selected the chocolate cake with coconut ice cream. It was very good. The other option was a lemon pie, which seemed hard and little. I am glad that I got the other dessert. They also offered white and red wine.
Snack Bar: The snack bar was located next to the pool. I believe it opened at 11am. They have hotdogs (not good) hamburgers that were oval shaped but good. Nachos and French Fries as well as all the condiments. They also had fajitas one day. It was good for a snack.
Late night snack: By the sports bar, they had chicken nuggets, fries, and little finger sandwiches. In case you get the munchies very late.
All and all very good food for the all-inclusive price you pay. I didn’t get sick once like I did in Puerto Vallarta!

POOL: We did not have to exchange a card for a towel we just went up and grabbed one. We always had a chair by the pool and didn’t arrive very early. They pool was very nice and they had activities all day. Bingo, water aerobics, etc. The beach is much nicer on this part of Cancun; compared to some of the hotels we saw further down. The waves are so nice to jump in. They had plenty of chairs and a volleyball net set up down by the beach.

TIP: Use the bus! So cheap and easy to use. You can exchange some cash for coins to ride the bus at the front desk. It is about $1.30, for 2 to ride the bus. They come up in front of the hotel pretty much every other minute. Give them 15 pesos and wait for your change. We didn’t know the first few times to wait for the change.

Any other questions please contact me!! Hope you enjoy your time, and don’t hesitate to go.

“Great to get the true feel of Cancun Mexico”

Hotetur Beach Paradise

We have stayed at this hotel each time that we visit Cancun. (three times in past 90 days, and then 4 times in the past 4 years) it is affordable so we can go to Cancun more often this way. We always rent a car so we can drive around ourselves and see the sights. We prefer this hotel mostly because we have been to the larger fancier hotels, and the walk to the beach at most of these alone is just Soooooo far, plus it is so impersonal, at Hotetur you will often see the same staff members and the same travelers during your trip because it is not so huge and expansive, at the mega hotels you never see the same person twice. We like the cozier environment. We always walk down to Club Med It is just down the beach about 15 minutes to the right in the elbow and the waters are so calm and there is a great reef you can snorkel on just behind the hotel. Bring your snorkel mask (or you can rent one)and the fish are amazing to watch, this is my favorite thing to do in Mexico. (snorkeling)
At the Hotetur they give you a card that you exchange for a big blue beach towel and they will change it for a clean one whenever you want, so that is nice. There are many different types of people here, so you will meet folks from all over the continent. Some nice, some not, as anywhere. Never had any complaints about the food, infact we are always able to eat healthy and fresh food at each meal. The desserts are great and the service is great. The drinks are good enough, but if you want them REALLY SUPER strong, then go to the gift shop and buy a bottle and spike it yourself the strawberry daquiris were delicious and had plenty of "kick" for us. The margaritas are awesome too. Never tried the "reservation only" restarants, we are not good at planning and you have to make reservations in the a.m. Leaving a few pesos on the table doesn't hurt either. It is like any restarant, we always leave a tip if they bring us our drinks and clear our plates so maybe this is why we get such great service (same at the bar). It is always clean in this hotel, it is older so they are always fixing things there, so if you have a problem, they will be there to fix it quick. You have to remember that you are in Mexico and it is very humid, so your things will likely take a beating, your cell phone might get damp and likely not work, your chewing gum will get sticky, your floors will get dewy this is just the climate there and its like this all down the Mexican coast. Bring lots of baggies. There is not a huge amount of water pressure in the showers and the water makes your hair tangly, so bring good conditioner. We always take a really powerful small fan and a long extension cord, this keeps us cool at night. There are a few little things that could be better, but you have to keep in mind you are in Mexico and you are getting a heck of a bargain for an all inclusive. Any trip is what you make of it. If you are looking for negative things, you will find them. If you are looking for a great time, a beautiful blue sky and gorgeous sandy white beach, you will find that here. As far as the staff, If you are nice to them they will be nice to you. Overall, we have never had a compelling reason not to go back. We are leaving again for Cancun in 2 days and I can't wait to see everybody there, Especially Victor and Juan Carlos.

This place was just fantastic. I was really hesitant given that it was so cheap for an all-inclusive, but it was great. Brand-name liquor. Really attentive staff. Decent food. Even some late night food options. I was impressed. Room was nice, clean, oceanview. Pool was great, swim up bar. Went with a friend for a birthday, really couldn't have been happier.

Listed as a 4 star hotel! never! stayed 4 nights travelling on my own. Checking in seemed to take forever, I was the only one at the time. The reception staff were not helpful and quite distrusting, until I had a long chat about why I could not get a safe key to carry to my room and then return with the money. They need some training and communication classes.
The food was good with plenty of choice, however there were weovils (incect) in the tea bags and when I showed the waitress she didnt do anything, the same bags were there throughout so I bought my own.The room suffered from terrible damp and condensation, it was smelling mouldy because of this. I booked another night before my flight (could find another hotel) and this was really nice however again the condensation made the room musty and the floor was soaking wet so I slept with the windows open to dry it out and for fresh air. One of the guys in the sports bar was miserable and dismissive. Food was not available after 11 as indicated, perhaps because it was Monday night? In fact including the scruffy hard old towels, lack of evening entertainment I was bored, would rate the hotel as a 3 star and wouldnt go there again. Its suitable for young people who like Karioke for entertainment and nothing more.

This was our 3rd. stay at this resort and it is the only place that we will stay from now on. We have stayed at other resorts in CanCun and this is the best by far.
The staff are very friendly and welcome you with open arms and do every thing to make your stay there the best. The rooms are very clean, the food great with much to choose from, the entertainment staff are the best. Jorge, Christan, Ellie & Tavo make everything so fun. They get all ages involved. The bar tenders get to know you by name and know what your like to drink. There is not 1 bad thing that I can say about this resort
This resort may not have all the fancy things the more expensive resorts have but at Hotetur Beach Paradise you are made to feel like family. I would get up every day by 6:00 a.m. look out to the sea, get dressed go down to the lobby and have coffee and just enjoy the staff, the guests and the day.
On our first night there this time I was voted by the guests Mrs. Beach Paradise 2008.
