“Pretty room but spotty service”

InterContinental Toronto Centre

3 of 5 stars
Cincinnati OH

The good:
- Close to Union Station
- Really big room, very nicely furnished
- Decent workout space.
The not-so-good:
- Not an area with night-time eating options, as the area seemed deserted at night.
- The lights were not working - turns out they were unplugged. Also, one of the lights had the bulb and socket hanging out of the fixture. I would expect the quality of the lights to be better. I had asked someone to come up to take a look at it, but it took so long I canceled the request.
- I got a visit from housekeeping for extra sheets, which I did not request.

“NIce, but not THAT nice!”

InterContinental Toronto Centre

Jun 26, 2008

We just recently stayed at this hotel, and I was expecting quite a bit as it was rated 4.5 stars on Hotwire. Once we checked in, I was glad we paid Hotwire prices as I would not have been happy paying full price for this hotel.
If you do pay full price, I am guessing it would be for the location!

The location was good and the bed was comfy. The room was a decent size - we just expected the room itself to be a little more luxurious and modern.

The staff were also polite and helpful.

“Perfect Downtown Family Holiday”

InterContinental Toronto Centre

4 of 5 stars
Calgary, Alberta
Jun 25, 2008

My family (husband & 2 kids) and I enjoyed a great stay at the InterContinental in downtown Toronto! Loved the pool area and spa facilities. The location is fantastic, close to the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame and lots of shopping and dining options within walking distance.

We will definitely choose this hotel on our next visit to Toronto.

“Excellent Romantic Anniversary”

InterContinental Toronto Centre

4 of 5 stars
Barrie, Ontario
Jun 19, 2008

My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental for our first wedding anniversary on June 16. We had originally booked at the Royal York, but we were able to get a really good deal on the room here. We booked a deluxe King room, guaranteed to be on a high floor.

We travelled by Go Train (driving, and parking, in Toronto can be an expensive pain) and got to the hotel around lunch time. We figured we'd try and check in early and if the room wasn't ready, we'd just drop off our luggage. The room was ready, and we were even granted a lakeview room! Our room was on the 14th floor, with 11 more floors above us. The room was really nice, we were immediately impressed when we'd walked in. Big beautiful king size bed, with a fluffy white duvet and about ten pillows. The view was very nice, not spectacular, but it's kind of hard to get a spectacular view in the city, but still, it wasn't too shabby. When we got settled, we ordered room service for lunch. Service was prompt and extremely friendly. I ordered French Onion Soup, and my husband ordered Poutine. I enjoyed my soup, but my husband wasn't very impressed with the Poutine. Sadly, it probably would've tasted better coming from the Chip Truck outside, at a fraction of the cost.

After dinner, we went to the Hockey Hall of Fame for the afternoon, and afterwards, we had dinner reservations at the 360 Restaurant in the CN Tower. If you are able to fit this expensive dinner in your budget ($165 for the two of us!), do it. The experience and ambience is absolutely amazing.

We both had the best night's sleep. I'm telling you, the beds at the InterContinental are the most comfortable beds in the world. Our wake-up call was prompt as well as our breakfast room service. Breakfast was decent, though expensive, but that's what you get with room service. Though it is nice to wake up to breakfast being wheeled into your room and you barely have to get out of bed!

We didn't see much of the hotel. Silly us forgot to pack our bathing suits, but a friend who's also stayed at the InterContinental says that the pool is really nice. We definitely enjoyed our stay. We've stayed in a couple hotels in Toronto, as we visit there quite often, and I would definitely go back to the InterContinental. The location is absolutely perfect, and if you can get a good deal on the rooms, as they are a bit pricey, it's really the perfect hotel.

“Great Location/Nice Hotel”

InterContinental Toronto Centre

Jun 17, 2008

The hotel is in a nicer part of town (compared to the Comfort Inn on Dundas where my class was held).

It was a good option looking at what else was there. It is great if you are there for a convention as it is connected by sliding doors to the convention center.

We stayed on the 16th floor. I would ask for a high floor room, the view was fantastic! The CN Tower was right outside our window along with the lakeshore.

The pool is ok. I've seen better and the whirlpool did not work. They did say the spa and associated facilities were under renovations, so perhaps when those are done, this may be a bit nicer.

I ordered room service a few times. Food is ok, but wayyyy over priced. Save yourself some money and go to Cora's a few blocks away.

I must admit being a travel agent my company paid the low rate for an agent, if I had to pay full price I may have felt over charged.

It is a nice place in a great location!

Pictures will be posted soon.
