“A wonderful hotel”

Butler's Town House

May 25, 2008

After spending hours searching the web for a special hotel in Dublin, my husband and I were not disappointed. We were greeted like old friends by Kieran and given tea in the drawing room which was very welcome after flying in from the UK.
Our room was compact but beautiful, with lovely furnishings including a four poster bed. We didn't feel like anything was missing from the room, it was very clean and supplies of bottled water, bubble bath and towels were replaced every day. Breakfast was delicious with a huge choice and definately set you up for a day wandering around Dublin. The hotel is a little out of town, but the bonus of this is that it is quiet. One of the reasons for choosing this hotel was its close proximity to the RDS and we were not disappointed as it was only a relaxed 15 minute walk. Access into Dublin city centre was easy too. A 30 minute walk, a bus from the end of the road or the Dart railway which was 150 yards away and very cheap. The Airbus coach from Dublin airport stops at the end of the road and is a quick and cheap way to get to the hotel.

All the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and we cannot praise the hotel manager, Cecilia, enough. We had a problem while we were there (not with the hotel) and she could not have done more to assist us.

Whilst in Dublin we recommend Blarneys Inn for a warm welcome and a good pint of Guiness and Quays Restaurant in Temple Bar for a lovely meal. The Bruce Springsteen concert we were in Dublin for was brilliant too!

“Exceedingly Friendly”

Butler's Town House

Our three day stay in Dublin was made even more enjoyable by stopping at the Butlers Townhouse. From the opening greeting by Cecelia and the very welcome tea she supplied which strictly speaking we were probably not entitled to, we knew this was the right place to stay. Wether it was the very friendly staff (everyone without exception) and the georgious furnishings it all added up to a large homely feeling. The breakfast room is a bright and beautifully decorated and the breakfasts are everything you could want to keep you going for the most part of the day. Try the bread.
The hotel is in a quiet part of town but the transport infrastructure is such that you can be anywhere quite quickly. For the fit, it's about a twenty/thirty minute walk into town. There is a regular bus service from the top of the road and a Taxi rank. The 'Dart' railway runs from Landsdown Road which is a short walk.
We found it cost effective and more convenient to take the taxi as there was six of us but the public transport is cheap.
I couldn't do this hotel justice if I wrote all day.

“Spring trip”

Butler's Town House

Apr 14, 2008

Stayed five nights booking two adjoining rooms. Comfortable and non-corporate which we appreciated after a previous stay in one of the larger hotels in the city. It is a walk from the centre but we wanted to be close to the nearby RDS exhibition centre. The DART (4 mins away) was great for getting along the coast for lovely walks. Breakfasts great . Cecilia & all staff really helpful. Will definitely return.

“Warm and Comfy A Home Away From Home”

Butler's Town House

If you enjoy staying in a comfortable, affordable and gracious Hotel in Dublin this is where to go. We selected this site from the Travel bureau of Ireland book and just got lucky. The clean gracious rooms allowed us to feel relaxed and at home. The staff went out of their way to please us and took the time and effort to ensure we went to favorable restaurants and areas of interest. The rooms are not large, yet, they are very warm and decorated beautifully. The Hotel is off the Main drag from the Dublin center yet a 25 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride got us right into the city center. If you are looking for a small warm location in a big busy city I recommend The Butlers Town House.

“Fab place to stay”

Butler's Town House

Mar 31, 2008

We stayed in Butlers for one night recently, It was very enjoyable and relaxing, a wonderful 4 poster bed with classy furniture. The bathroom was a good size with high quality bathrobes and towels. There was tea/coffee available free of charge and delivered by the reception staff, a lovely touch. The breakfast was wonderful, I had poached haddock and my husband had a full Irish, all served with a smile. The reception staff were polite and helpful, taking our luggage to the car and waving us goodbye. Overall, a great experience and recommended. Very good value for money, better than a chain or larger hotel.
