“Gotcha Bus Pass?”

Meriton Tiffany Bondi Junction Apartments Sydney

Mar 15, 2008

This was our second trip to Sydney. Previously we had stayed at a B&B in Coogee. So we knew that a serviced apartment on top of the Bondi Junction bus station was a no-brainer in terms of location. At $32 per person, Sydney's seven day bus and ferry travel pass must be among the best travel deals anywhere. We cannot recommend this location highly enough. As other reviewers have noted, the apartments are located across the road from one of the biggest shopping centres in the Eastern Suburbs, so everything you need is right on your doorstep. It's less than 10 mins by bus to Bondi Beach and 30-40 mins to Circular Quay depending on traffic.

We stayed for six nights in a two bedroom apartment on the sub-penthouse level. Based on the noise comments on this site, we had specifically requested a room as high up in the buidling as possible. Management obliged, but even on the 19th floor the street noise was still loud, with the buses coming and going all night.

The apartments themselves were a bit of a disappointment, as we found them to be a little too "hotel-like" in terms of appointment and management. Any place that gives you just one spare toilet roll per bathroom, and expects you to make it last a week, will never get a five star rating from this reviewer! For our liking, the beds were too soft and so we had sore backs atfter a few nights sleep. Other minor gripes included the lack of supplies needed for the length of our stay (the aforesaid toilet paper, dishwashing powder, washing up liquid), rip-off pricing for internet access, lack of clothes hangers, and the awful smell in the reception area.

Although the apartments are "non-smoking," occupants are allowed to smoke on the enclosed balconies. Unfortunately the previous occupant of our apartment must have been a smoker. It took about 3 days with the windows open before the stink of smoke on the balcony had subsided to a level at which we felt comfortable sitting there.

Other reviewers have noted all the "rules" that guests are inundated with, and indeed we made sure to hang onto our room keys for dear life lest we lose them and have to pay the $100 penalty. As older travellers, we were glad of the "no noise, no party" policy. However, one of our fellow travellers was hard of hearing, so we were a little anxious that if we turned the TV up too loud we would be assessed the penalty "without notice" as management had threatened. But all's well that end's well, as we did not seem to be "fined" for anything we did!

The pool and hot tub were very nice and most mornings we were the only people there. We understood that there were fitness facilities in the other building, but we did not use them.

In summary, if you want to relax in your own space, cook your own meals, and not be hassled by room and maid service, the Meriton Bondi Junction would be a good choice.

Stayed in the Meriton Tiffany Bondi Junction Apartment for 3 nights in January. I took a one bedroom apartment. It was clean, well organised with great views stretching across Sydney.

There is also a gym, sauna and pool downstairs.

This location is excellent for its proximity to transport options, shopping centres and is in a great Sydney location for touring.

Reception are helpful yet a little distant but this didn't bother me. The only downside is the smell outside the entrance of the building. Otherwise, it was really excellent value for money considering the prices of accommodation in Sydney.

We stayed in a 2BR apartment in the Meriton for a 7 day stay, The layout and space in the apartment is great - you are provided with all of the amenties you need for a longer stay and the location is fantastic. I would highly recommend this place. While it doesnt have the ambience or energy of a swanky hotel, it provides you will all of the amenities and room to create a home away from home.

We'd checked out these apartments on trip adviser before we left as we've never been to Oz before. We stayed at the apartments just 3 weeks ago (Dec 07) and the apartment we had was fantastic. Clean, spacious (we'd booked the 2 bedroom), well equipped with modern furniture - that felt more like a showhome than hotel. Our balcony had views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and the option of 3 balconys (one from each bedroom and the sitting room) meant we could use the covered balcony when the weather wasn't so good ... yes it rained on us when we first arrived!

If you are going to cook in the apartment watch the smoke alarm as it is incredibly sensitive to the slightest burnt cooking!

The pool and gym were great (plenty of equipment in the gym) and the reception staff friendly and helpful. We didn't use the tennis courts or games area.

Travel to Circle Harbour was 10 minutes by train from the station underneath the apartments, Bondi Beach 10 minutes by bus - again from under the apartment. The shopping centre opposite the apartments was great and included Coles & Woolworths supermarkets so easy to stock up. Plenty of restaurants round the hotel too - a couple could be used for 'room service' but we didnt' use these.

All in all would wholly recommend - only wished we'd booked to stay there on our returning visit to Sydney rather than the accomodation in Darling Harbour which we won't be giving as favourable review too!

“Great family accommodation”

Meriton Tiffany Bondi Junction Apartments Sydney

Just returned from great Sydney holiday. We stayed first three nights at Meriton in Pitt St, then moved to the Bondi property for the final night. We booked a two bedroom, but were given a three bedroom. The apartment was spacious and the views amazing. Position is perfect, just across the road from the huge Bondi Junction shopping mall complete with David Jones food hall and supermarket for all supplies. I would definitely stay here again - even in preference to staying in the city.
