“Not a bad place to stay!”

Sheraton Anaheim Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Austin, TX

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel starting on May 22, 2008. We were taking our kids to Disneyland and decided to stay here. I paid around $125 per night for a two queen bed room. Unlike many other hotels near Disneyland, this hotel has access to the rooms from the inside.

We were at the hotel at 12:00 PM while the check-in time was 3:00 PM. But the lady at the check-in did let us check-in right away. She wasn't too friendly though and I had requested for a room with a view but she was too busy issuing a room to me that she didn't care to provide me wth any choices. But we did get a room on the second floor with a view of the pool area.

The room was the most spacious double room that I've ever stayed in. The furniture looked a little dated but nothing too bad. The bathroom did show signs of aging though. The shower was actually out of the wall and the shower head did not move in any other direction. The windows and walls are not very sound proof. There were loud kids at the pool till around 11:30 PM which kept me awake even with all the windows shut tight. And early next morning, we got up early to head to Disneyland, my kids created enough commotion to invoke a noise complaint. The lady at the door politely told us to keep it quiet and we did as much as we could. But sound proofing is definitely lacking here. Don't forget to try the in-room coffee that is provided. It tasted very good.

The lobby area has three big and colorful salt water aquariums. Every time we entered the lobby area, both my 5 year old and my 2 year old ran to these aquariums since they had clown-fish(Nemo) swimming in them. There are multiple waiting areas and a cafeteria place. Overall, the lobby area looked very inviting and friendly. Additionally, there is also a games room where you can indulge in a game of pool and play some of the video games.

Once thing that we found out on the very last day was that there was a gift shop/cafe right next to the games room. The cafeteria served various cold sandwiches, donuts, mufins, cookies and sold candy and other such stuff. Since the price did not include breakfast buffet and the buffet in the local restaurant was way too expensive, we kept going out to Denny's and IHOP to have breakfast. If we had known of the cafe, we would have just picked up some donuts and coffee and saved on time and money.

There is also a beautiful garden area right in the middle of this hotel with a small pond (yes, with fish swimming in it).

The hotel has free shuttle services going to and coming back from Disneyland. And we never had to wait for more than 5 to 10 minutes for the shuttle to arrive.

Overall, this is a fairly decent hotel to stay it. Since we have kids, having breakfast included in the fee would have been perfect. But I guess you can't have everything. Next time, I will try staying at a hotel inside the Disneyland park since we were too tired after coming back from the day trip that we could not go back for the fireworks and the laser shows which happen during the night there. But if you wanted to, you could always watch the fireworks from the front parking lot of the hotel itself.

I would definitely stay in this hotel if needed and would definitely recommend it to anyone without any hesitation.

“Cockroaches and Flies in food”

Sheraton Anaheim Hotel

May 28, 2008

We awoke to a 2 inch cock roach over our bed on the ceiling. Because of a problem with check in I received a free breakfast, but when I went to eat breakfast, the food buffet was covered wtih flies. When I told the restaurant manager of the flies (and showed her), she said she could do nothing because the restaurant manager was not in. Five phone calls to the hotel general manager, Ken Buksa where not returned but he did write the following in a letter he would not do anything about the bugs because I complained during check in and received a free breakfast (the same one covered with flies that made me sick).

Am I am have been a Gold to Platnum member with Starwood for 20 years. This was the most disgusting of all Starwood hotels.

I recommend Motel 6 over this cockroach hotel.

“Comfortable rooms”

Sheraton Anaheim Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Manteca, Calif
May 27, 2008

My neice and I stayed for two days while visiting Disneyland. The rooms are very large and the beds are so comfortable, had the best nights sleep ever. We had no problems with noise as other reviews had written, our room was very quiet. The only complaint I have ( and not the hotel's fault) is there are no resturants near by, you have to either eat at the hotel (very expensive) or wait until the shuttle drops you off and walk accross the street to eat. Overall we had a great stay, rooms are very clean and the hotel lobby is beautiful. Shuttle service is great also.

“Huge rooms!”

Sheraton Anaheim Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Leicestershire
May 26, 2008

Before booking this I had read mixed reviews but I'm so glad we booked this as it was excellent!

We travelled with some friends and when we arrived our Travel Agent had only booked 1 room but the hotel staff were great & found us another room across the hall from us straight away with no fuss. The check staff were friendly and anytime we needed to ask a question, whoever we asked on the front desk was really helpful.

The rooms here are HUGE! We were amazed at how big these rooms were and even managed to ballroom dance round it!! The only let done was the size of the bathroom - it was so small it was funny, especially in comparison to the size of the room - the wardrobe was probably bigger!!! But then again I didn't need to spend long in the bathroom so the size wasn't a problem, just a strange use of the space available. The TV has loads of channels but we didn't spend loads of time n the room. There is free coffee making facilities and a fridge in the room, which was great as we had busy days going to the Disney Park.

The hotel has a lovely pool area - although it was a little cold to spend long in the pool when we were there - the jacuzzi next to the pool was lovely and warm, which was great.

We ate in the hotel restaurant 1 night, the service and food were great, but there are cheaper places nearby and this is more for adults than children.

We chose this hotel as it was close to Disney, without paying the Disney hotel price - the hotel offers a free shuttle every 30 mins between the parks which we used every day to save paying for parking. It was always on time and very useful. You could walk to Disney but you have to cross over some very busy roads and after walking round the parks it’s the last thing you want to do!

There is a shop in the front lobby which doubles as a snack bar which sells sandwiches, breakfast snacks and coffee etc... we saw this but didn't actually use it until the last day - big mistake as it was very reasonably priced and had a big variety - a definite must for brekkie before going to Disney.

Other people have complained about the noise - we didn't find it noisy at all, only when the fireworks go off at Disney - they sound like a bomb going off in the room, but you get great views from the hotel, and they only last for around 10 mins.

Top tip for dinner - Mimi's cafe - it’s just outside the Disney entrance and its excellent value for money and the food is lovely. Don't be put off by the wait if you go around 8pm as this is the most popular time - its well worth the wait! We also went to IHOP, again just outside the Disney entrance, for lunch and this was good value for money too.

“A new favorite!”

Sheraton Anaheim Hotel

May 8, 2008
1/1 found this review helpful

I stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim for the first time this April and found myself my new favorite hotel in the Disneyland area! Staying at the Sheraton Anaheim was perfect for the active Disneyland vacation we had planned. The moment we arrived there it was just perfection. The staff at the desk were very helpful during check-in and even when we realized that someone in our party had forgot their medication at home they wrote out the directions to the nearest Walgreens.
The hotel itself is much larger than it looked from the front. We had simply booked the cheapest room we had found for the hotel. While the view was not wonderful as it was facing the other side of the hotel it didn’t need to be spectacular. We were there for Disney! The room, although the cheapest, was extremely spacious and the beds were comfortable after a long day at the parks.
Downstairs there is a buffet breakfast with an enormous spread of food all freshly made and the fruit just right. It was a bit of a steep cost for just a breakfast, but it's good for families who want to eat healthy and to fill themselves enough to only have a snack for lunch.
At night time for parents who just need a break there is the bar that is open late and the availability to just relax on the sofas in the lobby while having a drink appealed to some adults in my party. For families the pool outside is more than adequate for a time of relaxation during the afternoon break from Disneyland. Also the grounds around the hotel are lovely with all sorts of decorative plants just giving the right atmosphere to the hotel.
Also the shuttle service to and from the park is a wonderful step up from having to at other hotels use the ART bus costing $3/day. One time after getting soaked from going from Splash Mountain to Grizzly River Run several from our group decided to travel back to the hotel and change. After asking the driver if he could wait for us to change and then drive us back, received a friendly yes. He waited patiently for us to return after about 10-15 minutes and drove us back over to Disneyland. Now that's customer service!
All in all I think this hotel is a deal! With the price you pay you are getting excellent service, transportation, a comfortable and spacious room and a pool. What more could a traveler ask for?? :)
