“You're paying the big bucks for the pool”

Ok- so if you've done any reading on the classic Dienyland Hotel thus far you've probably been forewarned about the not so great value of the hotel. It's true-case in point- we paid $350 for a totally average room with a pool view, but that's what you're paying for. We wanted to give our little girl the entire Disney experience so we booked this place for the first night of our stay in So.Cal and truly every penny of the $350 was for the ambience of the pool. It would have been fantastic if the weather was nicer (Memorial Day weekend) but it was still darn great. We LOVED the slides at the pool and the feeling of the disney magic- Ariel Statue at the pool, Character sightings, the feeling of the proximity to the magic I suppouse. I think it's ideal to splurge on one night at the Disney to use the pool every last minute of your stay and then if youre in position to spend this much a night , you can stay in a place much much more luxurious. One major downside was that checkin was at 4 pm in the afternoon, so by the time we arrived the sun was going down, and checout it at 10AM!!! So truly no time to meander around- in other words by the time we went down to relax at the pool and enjoy lunch our room keys were demagnetized to get in to the pool! HA! A nice staff memeber let us in but still not so much with the value- but they're Disney you're paying for the Mouse not the value right?

We definitely considered staying at one of the newer Dland hotels after reading reviews but the pools look like they were not nearly as exciting as the Pirate ship pool etc.

Hint: while we were there there was a pre-teen dance group there. Literally thousands of heavily made up 11 year olds-kind of creepy-anyway in talking with one of the moms she mentioned that they mentioned they were with the group and paid about $200 per night! I wouldnt know how to find out what groups are going to be there but if you can latch on to the room block of some group thats there, and im sure some group is always there, its about a 30% savings.

“Loving it a second time!”

Disneyland Hotel

Last year, my father took us to Disneyland Hotel again and I was able to take my friend along with me. Since this is a much more recent trip, I remember everything about the room.

First of all, I loved the lobby. I've always disliked waiting to get booked into a room, but the hotel had a tv for children to watch so they don't get bored or cause trouble.

The hotel room was a normal room, but it was beautiful. There were details in the bathroom which was small but beautiful, and details on the headboards of the beds and on the cabinet which held the television. In the room, we were able to gain wireless access for my friends laptop and our room overlooked the city, not the pool or hotels, but the city. It was a bit boring to view during the day, but during the night, we had a nice view of Fantasmics! fireworks as did our neighbors on the other balcony.

The quality of the room was wonderful. I appreciated the artwork they put on everything, and the house work as well. Each time we came back to our room in the afternoon, or even before 10 AM, our room was clean. I appreciated this greatly since I always conked out whenever I returned to the room.

Each night, when my friend and I returned at 12 AM from our Disneyland adventures, we would fall asleep to the Disney Princess stories. It was entertaining to us since we were both 17 and commented on the acting of the man who appeared in every Princess story, it could provide entertainment for children, providing they use their imagination, of course.

The hotel was wonderful, and I suggest this hotel to anyone who has the money to spare.

“Great location and clean”

We took our 5 year old and 9 year old to Disneyland. Great hotel to stay in. Kids loved the water slide and pool. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. You really can't tell it is an older hotel because the rooms are updated and nice. It is great being right there at Disney so you don't have to fight traffic and parking. We stayed in the Wonder tower. I called ahead and requested a quiet room away from elevators and ice machines. I was put in a room next to elevator and they moved me quickly to a room that had a door connecting our room to another. We could hear everyone talking in the next room. It was okay since we were not in the room much and they went to bed about the same time as us. It is close to Downtown disney and easy walk to Disneyland. They didn't have a coffee pot in the room! I wanted it to heat water for dry soup mix for the kids. We filled the in room fridge with snacks, yogurt, lunch meat to save on meals. Bought a disposible cooler for bottled waters. We took some of it in Disneyland in backpacks. They are not too picky about bringing snacks in Disneyland but I did have them covered with my jacket. It saved us some money. Get reservation asap in advance if you want to eat in a restaurant in downtown disney. Rainforest Cafe is very busy. There are good restaurants outside of disney but it is not easy to be in disneyland all day then feel like getting in the car and going outside disney to eat. It is too easy to just pay the high prices of the restaurants in downtown disney when the kids are tired. Would stay there again! Had a great time!

“Mixed Feelings”

We spent 3 nights at the Disneyland hotel. The location made it worthwhile, but the rooms seemed in need of renovation. Carpets were dirty and felt damp and sticky. The extra blanket in the closet was VERY stinky. The furniture was a bit dusty and the bathrooms seemed antiquated. No coffee maker in room but coffee was available in the lobby between 6:30 and 9:00

Room service was OK, the wait was about 30 minutes Rooms were cleaned around 9am. We were in Magic tower, on the 4th floor overlooking the pool, which was very nice. Our experience at the pool was good, lifeguards were very attentive and there were plenty of clean towels and lifejackets for the kids.

The best part was definitely being able to walk to the park or monorail. We also took advantage of the early entrance to the park for hotel guests (7am) and it was great getting on rides with no wait. Next time we will probably pay a bit more and go to the Grand Californian for a newer hotel. My feeling is that the older Disneyland Hotel is getting a bit neglected.

“Happy place for me”

My family stayed at the disneyland hotel for 4 nights with two 3 yr olds in tow. Our overall experience was wonderful in the wonder tower. The hotel is conveniently located next to the park. The wonder tower is the farthest from the park and it only took us 15 minutes to walk to the park which is not bad at all.....you are going to spend all day walking in the park anyway so what is 15 min. right? The room was very, very small. For the small fortune it cost us to stay, I expected bigger rooms with a better view other than the back parking lot. Only coffee until 9am, again. expected at least continental breakfast to be served but NO! We were a late check in and staff were very nice and helpful. No noise whatsoever, even though it was grad night on friday..didn't hear a thing. Th room was clean, and as old as it is, no old musky smells. I enjoyed the stay, would probably stay at another hotel with more amenities and lower price per night next time though. It was an experience, a good one. we live, spend too much money, learn, and would do it again in a heart beat!
