“Unique experience!”

Four of us booked to stay in the Design hotel for a few nights en route to Krabi. We wanted an individualised hotel, something a bit different from the run of the mill.

This is definitely what you get with this hotel. The decoration and furnishing in the hotel take a few minutes to get used to ( as does all that poured concrete - walls and floors! )

However, the experience of staying in the hotel is great. We loved so many different things about staying here..

1) the breakfasts, so relaxed and yummy. Good food selection.
2) the bars, great selection of drinks and interesting books around if you want to read.
3) the staff - really charming and helpful.
4) the pool - an infinity style and gorgeous.
5) the location works - you can walk to most things or take a cab / tuk tuk if you are tired.
6) the flow of the hotel public space - the bars and public spaces can be busy at key times but staff manage things well and the hotel is big enough not to cramp you.
7) the turn down at night is great in your room and they leave the best ever snack on youyr pillow - a banana candy which I have craved ever since leaving Thailand. YUM!

So this hotel is a cool and easy place to live in for a few days, the only people who would not like it are those who are expecting or want an old fashioned hotel decorated as such.

We were very happy with our choice, thanks for the stay.

“Great hotel - amazing service”

We stayed at the Siam@Siam for two nights in May 2008. We arrived at around 4am due to a delayed flight from Sydney - but were greeted and helped with our bags, and personally shown to our room.

Our room was very cool - as you can see is an important aspect of this funky hotel. Sheets were super soft - only issue is that we were given twin beds instead of a double - but we lived.

Pool was amazing, breakfast was great and service was absolutlely faultless.

Great hotel - easy to recommend!

“great hotel”

Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa

Jun 27, 2008

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon in mid June 2008. Overall we found this hotel great, the pool area is lovely despite limited open hours, breakfast was generous with lots of choices and we ate here twice for dinner and every dish we ordered was delicious. We recommend the penang noodles, they are sensational.
We also recommend you try the almond waffles at the 'Waffle Man' at National Stadium station, and if you enjoy coffee, the best place to get one is from Cafe Kaldi, level 3 MBK.
The only disappointing thing we found was that it was very noisy on our last night here which continued into the early hours and then we were awoken at 6 am by very noisy cleaners in the next room.
Generally metered taxis are the best value for money, even if they are halied for you by the hotel staff. It will cost you about 300 baht from the airport to the hotel. The sky train and ferries up the river are also a great and cheap way to get around. We took a tuk-tuk from the night markets one night that cost 100 baht.
We did the tiger temple/ river Kwai tour in Bangkok that was great value for money. We booked it at one of the official booths at the train station and paid a fraction of the cost they will try to charge you if you book at the hotel.
We found that the best night market was the Suan Lum Night Bazaar.
Generally we were happy with this hotel and would stay here again if we visited Bangkok again.

“loved it & would definaly return!!!!”

Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa

Jun 26, 2008

We stayed in a leisure class room, which was a nice size, great views and everything you could ask for.
Staff were so polite and couldnt do enough for you, we did have a fault with are safe and a member of staff was at the room to help within minutes. It made our short stay so enjoyable that staff were interested & willing to talk and give information on Bangkok etc.
We had dinner at the restaurant one night which I would recommend , food was very nice, there was a great atmosphere and fantastic entertainment, which seemed to be on most nights the place was buzzing....
The hotel had a well equiped gym which i was glad off, and free internet access. With the mbk shopping center & skytrain only a short walk away, we discovered that this hotel was in a great location!
The hotel has a modern, edgey feel but is yet very comfortable. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.... oh & try the cocktails their delicious!!!!

“Loved Siam@Siam - Best Hotel Experience”

Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa

Jun 17, 2008

Duration of Stay: May 16th-19th and 26th

Booked With: Agoda.com for approximately $110 US a night for a Leisure Class Room.

Location: The Hotel is situated 1 block away from the National Stadium stop on the Skytrain. Also, close to shopping centers such as MBK, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Square, Hard Rock Café. These are less than a 10 minute walk from the Hotel.

Leisure Class Room: 1 bottle of water per day per guest is provided free of charge. There is also an umbrella in the room which you can take with you if rain is expected, thought that was a nice touch. There are two robes and two pairs of slippers provided stored in the closet. The safety Deposit box also in the closet was easy to use. We had two full size beds in our room, as you can see in the pictures. The view from our room was fantastic as you could see the whole city. There is a hair dryer in the room and an iron is sent up via a request from housekeeping. In the bathroom, cotton balls, Q-tips, shower caps, Sewing needle, body lotion, shampoo and shower gel are all provided. There was no smell in the room and the water pressure was very good. Also, our wake up calls were always on time.

Breakfast: Breakfast was included in the price we paid for the hotel. It’s an extensive buffet consisting of, an omlette station, 6+ varieties of local fresh fruits, fruit juices, cereal, 4-5 Thai dishes(noodles, rice, chicken and pork dishes), pastries, eggs, pancakes, sausages etc…There is something for everyone at Breakfast!

Pool: The pool is located on the Lobby level on the 11th floor. It is an infinity pool overlooking the national Stadium, with great views of the city. If you cannot swim it may be a bit deep for most people. The pool was great to take a swim after a long day of shopping and to sip on a beer in the lounge area.

Internet: They have free Wi-Fi in all rooms if you travel with a laptop. If you don’t, guests are allowed free of charge to browse the internet in the lobby of the Hotel which is on the 11th floor (same floor as the pool).

Taxis: If you need a taxi always get one at the hotel because the driver will turn the meter on. If you try to get one on your own on the street chances are he will not use the meter.

Luggage Storage: A huge plus was that the hotel stored our luggage free of charge while we travelled onwards to Chiang Mai and Phuket. We arrived back in Bangkok on May 26th and our luggage was in the same condition we left it.

On May 26th, we arrived back at Siam@Siam. Since our flight was at midnight the same day we decided against booking a room as it would cost us another $110 US a night. Instead, we dropped off additional luggage to be stored and headed to MBK for last minute shopping and one last massage. After shopping, back at the hotel, they removed our bags from storage and provided a place to pack additional purchases and to get a change of clothing after showering for our flight. The bags were then sent back to storage and we headed to the SPA to shower and change for our flight. At the SPA they provided robes and toiletries for our use. We even took a dip in the Jacuzzi before our shower. After we were ready we got our bags from the Luggage Storage and they were loaded into the taxi and we were off to the Airport. We felt bad they had to take our luggage so we could pack additional items and then send it back to storage again so that we could shower. But they surely did not have a problem and the staff was always pleasant and would do anything we asked of them.

Overall: This is a fantastic hotel. I would describe it as modern, funky and industrial-chic. The staff is helpful, friendly and speaks English. The service was top notch, they always responded in a timely manner whenever we had a request. I cannot recommend them highly enough. To date in all my travels, this has to be the best hotel experience I’ve had. I have no complaints about this hotel and it would be my first choice if and when I do head back to Bangkok.

Also Recommended – There is a shop for massages approximately 1 block away from the hotel (headed in the direction of MBK, same side as the hotel). We got foot massages everyday and a full body oil massage the day we flew back to the US. I recommend them as the prices are cheap and negotiable. Also, the girls are friendly.

In response to other reviews, I never felt pressured by the Tours desk to book anything. We told them we had already booked our tours before arriving and they were fine with that. They never asked again. The concierge was always helpful when we asked for dinner recommendations. He would also call and make reservations.
